What to Expect
If you have specific goals for our work together, or general ideas about what you’d like to get out of it, we can spend part of our first session developing a plan for our work. Sometimes, people are drawn to this healing method without knowing exactly what they are looking for. If this is the case, we will spend the first session in exploration.
In most sessions, we will work with our physical bodies. Sometimes the work is simply bringing our awareness to the body. Sometimes I will lead you in certain movements or breathing practices that are designed to bring about a change in the nervous system. I believe that YOU are the expert on your body, and I am here to support, teach and offer some options you may not yet know are possible for you.
In online/video sessions, I may invite you to use your own hands to bring support to your head, neck, or any part of your body that is “speaking” to us. I will also ask you to use pillows, blankets, and anything else that might help support your body in space so that we can best get to the heart of what your body may be trying to say to you.
The nervous system heals most rapidly when the body perceives itself to be in a safe environment, so sessions are paced to the client’s comfort level. Often this pace feels slow to our thinking brains. However, this work can be slightly counter-intuitive. Sometimes the slower we go in an individual session, the faster the nervous system adjusts.
The time we spend together is just a fraction of the time you spend with yourself. While we do big chunks of work together and can make essential shifts during sessions, the bulk of the work will be done by you between sessions, in your daily life!
